Allison: I'm not sure I like you being the OSCON organizer. You are far less available for random yapping! Alright, alphabetical order... AWAY allison Andy Arnold Arvelicious % jhorwitz has joined #parrotsketch not pre typed - I've been the OSCON organizer most of the week - We had a very productive hackathon on Saturday - Worked through the connections between the Perl 6 and Parrot object metamodels - And made more progress on Parrot's new metamodel implementation EOR Andy oooh, I get what you meant now w/the alpha order. OK, not pre-typed - Worked w/Josh Hoblitt to get stack dumps. ROCK. - All files that get compiled into Parrot should now come under the watchful eye of the headerizer. % davidfetter has joined #parrotsketch - Working to sniff out attributes at configure time. I had been working on this before, but it got stalled. - Did little at OSCON Parroty, other than my yearly sponge bath by chromatic. EOR I removed some suck from the garbage collector. chromatic++ I'm reviewing Max Mohun's "Build me a compiler" toolkit. It's close to checkin, though probably first as Perl code, later Parrot. I fixed a couple of memory leaks. I'm now certain that the Tcl trouble is in src/hll.c, so I'm looking in to a heavy rewrite there. jhorwitz, how's mod_parrot? it compiles w/o warnings against HEAD still some deprected ops in the guts that i'm working out with pm and particle all tests pass, and PIR handlers work perfectly i have perl6 and nqp to the point where they're loading and compiling, but having some issues calling the subs. working that out right now. once that works, we'll have our first HLL working under mod_parrot, though fairly simple. EOR particle ~ many real life conversations on parrot-related stuff, some pairing with jhorwitz++ on mod_parrot, and a busy hackathon ~ added mark glines as a committen ~ i've now turned my eyes on pmc2c to see if Storable will speed it up over Data::Dumper ~ comment: deprecated ops should warn .end pmichaud * Removed compilers/past/ and compilers/post/ from repo. * Fixed some error messages in bitwise string opcodes * Cleaned up description of push_eh in exceptions pdd * Added PCT into build cycle. * Refactored PAST/POST inside of PCT ** Eliminate requirement for Parrot-specific code in PAST ** Moved opcode details out of PAST->POST transformation * Added NQP initial commits, roadmap * Introduced a variety of folks to perl6/parrot compiler ** Applied patches from Colin Kuskie (perlDreamer++) * Discussed perl6 object model requirements with allison * Fixed handling of arrays in 'for (1,2,3) { ... }' EOR ptc pmichaud also did a great talk at OSCON oh yes -- talks at oscon, and hallway discussions galore (oscon was very busy.) pmichaud++ I also broke my laptop, and repaired it yesterday :-) No ptc... how about tewk? (I also reviewed Coke++'s CodeString PMC implementation) Oh yeah, I restructured some of the PMCs to help with mark ordering problems. That looks like the commit reports. Are there any questions? Here's one: How does COW work and why doesn't COW work? what level of detail are you looking for in the answer? 'cause it sounds like a "dig into the code" kind of question how do i install a default exception handler to catch 'real_exception's of type 'E_WARN' ? Some sort of design document. particle: as far as I know, you can't with the current prototype implementation that's what i feared :( chromatic: I'll add the question to the PMC PDD c: docs/glossary.pod gets closest to a description. ain't that scary? It looks like one of those optimizations that doesn't work in all cases. Any other questions? what features do we target for this release, pmichaud? anything in particular? good question. I'm targeting ast/pct myself pdd15 objects would seem like the most important target at the moment has anybody verified jonathan's claim that he's fixed up pdd15 implementation? i haven't yet. I will probably see about converting PGE to pdd15 objects in the next week or so that will be a pretty good test he fixed defining methods from PIR I checked the tests on Saturday I've finally got COW working so that you can't pass in a NULL on it. defining vtable overrides from PIR still doesn't work ouch, that's a blocker yes does anyone know if he had some code outstanding on that? or if I can dive into it without walking over his work? I don't know either way, allison ok. I'll look into it Is anyone blocking on anything? when I looked on Saturday it seemed he had added some code for vtable overrides, and it just wasn't complete I'm blocking only on hours-per-day It sounds like we're done for this week. Shall we adjourn? seconded. thanks for handling the meeting again, chromatic ok meeting time.
