% mdiep has joined #parrotsketch % rgrjr has joined #parrotsketch % kj has joined #parrotsketch % chromatic has joined #parrotsketch Who's here today? let's wait a few minutes to see who shows up here present i'm here. but not invited. still I'm here :-) % allison has joined #parrotsketch * mdiep is here, but just observing kj, all committers are invited. ok. never got it that way. Alright, let's start. allison? then i guess I should de-lurk. hey there bob. welcome. - I gave a talk about Parrot at SCALE in LA. - Spent some time talking to Raster from Enlightenment about running on small embedded devices (and garbage collection, etc) - Didn't get much dev time, but did make progress on the final struct generation code for PMCs. - I have a few quiet days in Portland, before Frozen Perl this weekend. Then no more distractions until April. EOR I fixed some bugs, some old and some new. One of those was a memory leak for STRINGs. I'm happy to look at open CAGE tasks and crashers, if someone can feed them to me. jhorwitz, kj? * worked on documentation for pct; it's improved since I added them to the repos. - see docs/pct/ - gettingstarted.pod to do a 10 minutes introduction on PCT, including using the mk_language_shell.pl script to get Your Language running - past_building_blocks.pod to explain what different types of PAST nodes and the effects of attributes (sorry, that formatting didn't work out) finishing up new embed.pod, will commit later today. worked on talk for frozen perl. EOR particle? had talks with larry and ruoso about smop's responder interface. i've done nothing rakudo/parrot related in the past week. coke's done nothing, either. .end pmichaud? Paula and I spent another six lovely and terribly non-productive days in the hospital this past week nothing serious -- mainly there for observation because she was running a fever (which she undoubtedly contracted from me and the kids from the previous week) anyway, little got done on rakudo or parrot, but we're back at home now and I'm getting caught up on email and back to rakudo stuff in a couple of hours eor rgrjr? * made progress on #50040, probable GC bug in packfile loading. * started learning about packfiles in the process, which will help with debugger development, a project i'd like to undertake in a few months (when $job and $life settle down). eor tewk? % rdice has left rdice!~richard_d@CPE0014bfafbbd5-CM0011e6ecf48a.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com % rdice has joined #parrotsketch My guess is probably now tewk. Are there any questions? The next release is in one week. How're we doing? I'll start posting messages about it tomorrow and coordinating whatever tasks need doing for it Okay. The JIT core still needs an update for the task scheduler. I filed that ticket before the previous release. I'll look up that ticket Are there any other questions? Concerns? Blockers we can fix? Some issues with PAST nodes, but these have been expressed on the list already. I refer to the issue with lexicals, and handling returns/break/continue and other related control-flow commands. It's not blocking me. (not blocking as I'm currently working on non-parrot stuff) I'll be looking at lexicals later today my feeling is that PAST is actually pretty close to correct already pmichaud: yes, I don't really see how things could be improved, but when running it, it just doesn't work. I don't know exactly how closures work in parrot, apparently. I'll write up an explanation/reply to the mailing list (the generated PIR looks good, that's what I mean by not seeing how to improve) I don't know exactly how they work _either_ but PAST needs a little tweaking, yes. Is there anything else? Barring that, we'll meet here again next week before the release. Please run 'make fulltest' and report any failures and platform updates in the interim. (and then fix any failures) there is a slight possibility that I may need to move the release to wednesday -- depends on paula's treatment schedule (which is a little up in the air at the moment) other than that, we'll plan for a tuesday release you can also move it a day earlier, if that helps day later is more likely :-) aye Alright, thanks everyone.
